Meet Dr. Thanh Mai, OD, FSLS – Compassionate Vision Care Leader Helping Patients See Their Best
Dr. Thanh Mai, OD, FSLS is a co-founder of Insight Vision Center Optometry and specializes in keratoconus and irregular corneas, advanced contact lenses (including scleral lenses), myopia management, and dry eye care. Inspired by his own childhood myopia, Dr. Mai became an optometrist to help patients improve vision long-term—not just rely on stronger glasses.
He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from SCCO (Summa Cum Laude) and completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA on scholarship. As a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society, Dr. Mai is known for solving complex vision problems that can be life-changing, especially for patients with corneal conditions or post-LASIK visual challenges.
Dr. Mai is also a passionate educator and leader in the profession, serving as Past President of the Orange County Optometric Society, Vice President of Clinical Innovation at Treehouse Eyes, and a frequent speaker, mentor, and advisor in the myopia space. Outside the office, he enjoys time with his wife and two children, learning golf and pickleball, playing board games, and cheering on his UCLA Bruins.
